Living in mountains and Hidden in the forest

The architectural design of Shanghai Jumeirah Himalaya Hotel Club

Hidden in the town was a realm of the Zen-hidden. The design method continued the international tact of the master builder Arata Isozaki and reproduced the space-time fragments of different cultures in the modern society. In accordance with the hotel spirit and with the combination of the local culture essences, we adopted the “intangible and misty” idea of the Chinese Buddhist culture as the main design intent, tried to practice the “intangible and misty” idea as the "living Zen" through the utilization of the advanced materials and technologies. Taking the advantages of the specific material to create a whole atmosphere, unified the “yards” of the exterior spaces, and made the interior working in concert with the architectural appearance to further subliming the construction features. It tried to express the beatific union life ideas of ancient China through the abstractive and colorable large freehand method of the traditional Chinese paintings, and harmoniously processes the dimension and location of the “mountain”, “tree” and the “human being” in the world.

Arrive here, customers would access to the mountain from the town, and then entered into the room via the forest.

It ultimately wanted to express the usual mind of the Zen.
